30 months ago, State of Formation was just a vague idea. 25 months ago, it was a concept plan. 20 months ago, it was a website. Now it is one of the most vibrant forums for emerging religious and ethical leaders in the world.  Today we are celebrating a truly monumental moment in its emergence: its 1,000th article.

We have invited emeritus partners in visioning and creating State of Formation and shaping it into the national (and international) initiative that it is to share their memories about the moments when it crystallized as an idea and began moving from idea to meaningful reality as a movement-builder.

Our profound thanks to our partners, colleagues, readers -- and most of all the Contributing Scholars, who make State of Formation into the groundbreaking forum and network that it has become.
