Dear Newtown, and the World: A Prayer for Peace

As we struggle to grasp the reality of the unthinkable violence today in Newtown, CT, may we, along with whatever feelings may come, feel our hearts overflowing with love, filling our bodies and minds, expanding to touch those around us, combining with their love and reaching out with compassion towards those directly affected today. Let our collective love grow ever greater, to encompass the Earth and flow out across the entire universe.

We love not because it is easy when such outrageous acts have been committed, when anger and frustration and uncountable emotions surge in our hearts, but we love because we must. Because our greatest power to heal is in our deep love and connection as human beings, in our strong belief in the rights of all, and in the most dear lives of children.

To those we lost today: may your spirits be felt in the wind, in the soil, and across the stars — that you find exquisite connection with the Divine, and may we remember that you have never truly left us.

Waning Moon,

Ancient Crescent Goddess

Who closes out the annual cycle with the great harvest,

Embrace these lost today,

Enfold them in the Greatest Love,

Guide them on the final path,

And grant peace to those left behind.
