Joseph is a professor, Quaker, husband, and friend. He teaches anthropology and humanities courses for a liberal arts college in Portland, Oregon. He commutes by bike, plays guitar, and enjoys fine Scotch, wines, and foods with his wife. Current projects include: Workshop seminars on the intersection of Christian Theology and Western Pop-Culture; Collaborative immersion projects for students within religious communities divergent to their own.

Rev. Dawnn M. Brumfield is a native of Chicago, IL. A Doctor of Ministry student in Pastoral Care and Counseling at Chicago Theological Seminary, Dawnn is committed to constructing a continuity of care. She is intentional about creating and serving in ministry that integrates the mind, body and spirit. Her ministry focus is simple. She has a desire to prepare the church for ministry to ALL people regardless of race, gender, class or culture, sexual orientation, family design, and physical, emotional or mental conditions. This pastoral mission is lived out as she passionately preaches, teaches and facilitates seminars in parish, community, prisons and hospital settings.

Born in Antwerp (Belgium) and currently based in Brussels (Belgium), trained as a classical singer at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Antwerp, and obtained Master Degrees in Musicology and in Religious Studies, World Religions and Interfaith Dialogue of the Catholic University of Leuven. Has professional experience in performing arts, international cooperation and human rights, as well as in education to development and intercultural dialogue, and is an alumna of the Institute of Bossey (World Council of Churches, Geneva Switzerland).
